The Story Behind Cary’s Luxury Florist

Most florists learn by working in a shop. Anita learned in a conservatory.

She trained at one of Europe’s top floral design institutes in Hungary — a rigorous program where students spend years studying color theory, botanical structure, and the traditions of European floristry before they’re trusted with a client order. It’s a discipline that treats flowers as a serious design medium, and the training shows in every arrangement that leaves our studio.

After graduating, Anita opened floral shops near Budapest, earning a reputation for compositions that broke from local convention — structured, modern, and uncompromising in quality. That instinct for pushing boundaries followed her to Los Angeles, where she founded Hidden Door Floral Studio in 2018.

From Los Angeles to the Triangle

In LA, the studio found its footing quickly. Celebrity clients, production designers, and interior stylists sought Anita’s work for the same reason — premium stems, zero filler, and a sensibility that sits comfortably between classical European tradition and something distinctly contemporary. The studio grew entirely on word of mouth. No wire services. No advertising. Just referrals from clients who understood what they were looking at.

In 2022, Anita relocated Hidden Door to the Triangle. The region’s growth, its mix of established neighborhoods and new energy, and a population that genuinely values craft made it the right place for a studio that refuses to cut corners. Today we serve clients across Cary, Raleigh, Durham, and the wider Triangle — from homes in Preston and MacGregor Downs to corporate offices along Weston Parkway and celebrations at venues like The Umstead and Prestonwood Country Club.

Art in Bloom at the North Carolina Museum of Art

Since arriving in the Triangle, Anita has been selected as a featured designer at the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Art in Bloom — one of the state’s most prestigious events at the intersection of fine art and floral design. Working alongside Morgan Howell Moylan of West Queen Studio in Hillsborough, Anita has created installations that interpret museum artworks through the language of flowers. It’s the kind of work that requires both technical precision and creative instinct — the foundation everything at Hidden Door is built on.
